For busy Hollywood couple Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg, decorating their new Los Angeles home posed a daunting and time consuming task. With bi-coastal work schedules, they knew they needed interior design help made easy.

This time Jamie and Bryan worked with the uber talented San Francisco based Celebrity Designer Will Wick to turn their existing tired kitchen into something reflective of the couples fun style. For the renovation the designer with Lowe’s to beautifully and affordably open up the tight space, and create a charming vintage-inspired look with modern functionality.

The Transformation

The kitchen renovation included refurbishing a 50’s era stove to maintain its vintage look and serve as the focal point. White upper cabinets and subway tile were used to create an airy feel, while rich coffee-brown shelves added depth and storage space.

The rustic pantry feel was achieved with a utility cabinet placed on top of Silestone ariel counters. A farmhouse sink, nickel faucet, rubbed bronze light fixture, and Kitchenaid appliances completed the vintage yet functional look.

Celebrity Designer Collaboration

The 50s era stove might be our favorite element. Refurbished to maintain its quintessential vintage look, it sets the tone as the statement and focal point of the countertop area. To keep the area as spacious as possible, upper cabinets were painted white and kept to a minimum. The white subway tile adds subtle texture while maintaining the airy feel.

To add some depth, rich coffee-brown shelves ground the area and provide additional storage space. All existing cabinets were painted in a light gray, and the existing butcher block was stained chocolate brown to match the shelves.

To create a rustic pantry feel, a utility cabinet was placed on top of the Silestone ariel counters. The white farmhouse sink with nickel faucet has the vintage functionality plus a tasteful sheen. The rubbed bronze light fixture adds charm and functionality. And of course, we cannot fail to mention the French door fridge and dishwasher by KitchenAid – two kitchen essentials!

We know kitchens are the hubs of daily life, so we value their livability.

Will Wick is no different, so he paid special attention to the booth area. Going for 50s diner-style, the booth itself was reupholstered in a gray reversed denim with trim done in true side. The table is a salvaged piece of Carrera marble with vintage table stands. And centered above, a Will Wick original design pendant from his store Battersea.

Already dripping in personality, the kitchen floor is especially unique. It was curated by Jamie and Bryan themselves. The retro 50s pattern ceramic tile was inspired by California Missions, and is the greatest example of the collaboration that takes place between designer and client. We love the subtle blue and brown pattern.
