The San Francisco Decorator Showcase
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase, one of the premier show house events on the West Coast, just wrapped up after a month long stint dazzling the thousands of guests who toured the gorgeous Pacific Heights mansion.
And needless to say, it was Celebrity Designer Chloe Redmond Warner, known for her classic designs with a modern fresh twist, who was one of the stars of the show with her show-stopping dining room design.
Chloe Redmond Warner’s Dining Room Design
Chloe created a stunning, whimsical, modern dining room within a very traditional space. In her words, “the dining room could be useful for more than just dinner parties. Building sessions, art salons, plant cultivation, and of course, dining together.”
She wanted to create tension between the classic architecture and paneling, and the modern young family living in the space. And clearly, she nailed it!
Personal Design Tips from Chloe
- Tip 1: Balance Light And Dark
You wouldn’t know it by looking at this image, but when we got our paws on this room it was oppressively dark. We kept the wood, but added the cloud lantern installation and the reflective silvery paneled screen by de Gournay to bring a huge dose of light. - Tip 2: Balance Formal And Informal
I love the interest created by pairing a modern piece, like this brass moon mirror and light by Ben and Aja Blanc with the existing wood panels. The contrast allows each one to shine. - Tip 3: Use Plants And Flowers To Bring A Layer Of Life To A Space
With their sculptural leaves and beautiful greenery, plants add a ton of atmosphere, and even though they require maintenance, its worth it. - Tip 4: Change The Architecture
The fireplace in this room was a bummer – the mantle was enormous and depressing, and the surround had an industrial feeling. We removed the mantle and resurfaced the entire thing in plaster, then did a faux-onyx treatment with decorative painter Charles Leonard. The result is so modern and clean, but also detailed and interesting. It was relatively low-impact – no contractors were involved, but gave huge results.
