Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis Home

It was absolute love at first sight when we saw Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis new design-forward, barn-inspired home in Architectural Digest.

Situated on 6 acres in the hills above Los Angeles, there is the main house, the guesthouse, and an entertainment barn alongside a freestanding barbecue pavilion. The property is perfectly positioned to capture the incredible views.

In building their dream home, Kutcher says that they  wanted the house to look like an old barn, something that had been here for decades, that was then converted into a house. It also had to feel modern and relevant.

Living Room Recreate

Rugged and refined, the living room is inspired by the modern board-form concrete walls that are perfectly aligned with the reclaimed oak floors.

The cool walls are softened by the oversized modular sofas and an antique rug. Our designers found the perfect emerald green velvet modular sofas to recreate the look and added two in various configurations around that burnt teak coffee table. The vintage rug is a splurge, but the perfectly muted colors and one-of-a-kind feel really pulls the whole look together. We then added a standing lamp for some soft lighting while touches of greenery add color and warmth to the room.

Dining Room Recreate

At the other end of the open living and dining room, we found a beautiful rustic farmhouse table to serve as the focal point. We love that the grey-toned oak can skew casual or formal depending on how you dress it up. Those leather saddle chairs feel reminiscent of old hunting lodges and are perfect for creating the Kutcher/Kunis elevated rustic vibe. The faux green and white branches echo the farmhouse feel and are easy to swap out seasonally. And we love the easy elegance of the oversize dining platter left out on the table. It creates a sense of intimacy and encourages you to invite people over with its communal shape and size.

To complete the modern farmhouse look, consider revamping the outdoor area with cozy seating, a fire pit, and string lights for a charming and inviting ambiance. Add touches of greenery with potted plants and flowers to enhance the natural feel.
